Health And Safety at The Giants Causeway
On numerous visits in 2014 (4 in total) to the Giants Causeway, I was happily reminded each time that health and safety was a carefully controlled substance down on the hexagonal hopscotch. The National Trust bus runs the 1 mile journey to and from the basalt rock formation every 5 minutes in high season. The Heneghan Peng designed visitors centre is world renowned owing to its award winning design next to a UNESCO World Heritage sight, of which it offers an appropriate contrast and spirit. With these parameters of propriety surrounding such a site, the crushing, fun-killing thoughts of health and safety is inevitable. But the past few times I have visited, no one tells you what to do! There are sometimes hundreds of tourists scattered along and across the rock formation which merges into the rough and choppy Irish Sea. But no fun police!
